Hi, I’m Sarah!

I love everything to do with augmented/virtual reality stories, graphic design, classical music, and film. My happiest moments are when I understand the logical means to let emotion and creativity flow fully.

I’m a recent graduate of Johns Hopkins where I got my Master’s in Immersive Storytelling & Emerging Technologies. It was an apt pivot from my undergraduate experience—

I got my Bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Case Western Reserve University. I was more often found tinkering at the neighboring Cleveland Institute of Art and Cleveland Institute of Music than I was in the circuits lab, but all my interests came to an unexpected confluence when I discovered an interdisciplinary team on campus using Microsoft HoloLens to develop a holographic anatomy curriculum.

Working there as a student seven years ago made me want to pursue for the rest of my life the feeling of building things with others that shift people’s perception of reality.

Orange County, CA is currently my home. My cat Kosen has traveled across the US with me since college and expressed that the year-round sun basking in SoCal makes it her favorite place!

Ongoing Project

I’m currently editing a VR documentary about my grandfather in Taiwan.

Taiwan had its first democratic presidential election only two years before I was born. It was common for me growing up to hear about friends and family in the US intentionally timing their visits back to vote. Observing this as a child showed me that there was something considerably important about our small island.

My grandpa was a key part of the hard-won efforts to go from martial law to democracy. That generation of Taiwanese is now in its twilight years.

In March 2024, I flew to Taiwan with an Insta360 Pro 2 VR 360 Camera, two lavaliers, and an ambisonic microphone.

I captured my grandpa at significant locations in his life and career in Tainan and Taipei, and filmed many conversations during meals (see below for a frame).

I want to create something not just for my family’s memories, but an experience that allows strangers to intimately grasp Taiwan’s history and to care about its people’s future.
